Transport and Logistics is a fast-moving and strategically important sector in Bahrain as it offers many investment, development and employment opportunities and this programme is specifically designed to provide the industry with graduates who are ready for this diverse and challenging business environment.
Graduates with a Bachelor of International Logistics Management will be able to:
- Operate effectively in a business environment;
- Demonstrate effective thinking and problemsolving to plan and analyse transport and logistics systems, including communication systems;
- Explain the complex relationships between land/sea/air use and transport networks that give rise to transport and logistics demands and recognise how they blend together to create the global supply chain;
- Use transport network analysis and critical thinking to develop solutions that solve transport and logistics problems;
- Apply an in-depth understanding of how ports function and how they contribute to the local and global marketplace;
- Identify and analyse critical issues relating to energy and transport;
- Apply principles of urban and regional transport planning in Bahrain;
- Analyse the environmental effects of the industry from a local, regional and global perspective and utilise knowledge and skills to seek solutions to limit the negative effects on the industry;
- Demonstrate confidence and independent capabilities as learners;
- Display effective communication orally and in written English; and
- Apply leadership skills and the ability to work with others.
Graduates with a Higher Diploma in International Logistics Management will be able to:
- Apply risk management and supply chain management;
- Think strategically and be an effective leader in the logistics and transport industry;
- Critically discuss planning, governance and financing of private and public logistics and transport industries;
- Explain concepts specific to the maritime, ports and shipping industry;
- Conduct research within the logistics and transport industry;
- Explain how transport and logistics companies make profits, purchase capital equipment, maintain inventories and plan for the future;
- Explain the concepts of the mass movement of people and goods in an urban, local and international environment;
- Operate effectively in a business environment
- Demonstrate and understanding of how the global supply chain fits into a local environment and how to be part of this global business;
- Apply knowledge and understand the essential concepts and theories in the logistics and transport environment, including freight and warehouse operations, as well as being ‘work ready’ at an entry level;
- Manage resources in the logistics and transport environment; Use appropriate ICT skills and resources in the workplace; and
- Apply leadership skills and the ability to work with others.
Graduates with a Diploma in Logistics and Transport will be able to:
- Explain how transport and logistics companies make profits, purchase capital equipment, maintain inventories and plan for the future;
- Define the concepts of the mass movement of people and goods in an urban, local and international environment;
- Operate effectively in a business environment
- Demonstrate an understanding of how the global supply chain fits into a local environment and how to be part of this global business;
- Apply knowledge and understand the essential concepts and theories in the logistics and transport environment, including freight and warehouse operations, as well as being ‘work ready’ at an entry level;
- Manage resources in the logistics and transport environment; and
- Identify the role of ICT in such workplaces and how to utilise these specific skills in the logistics and transport industry.
