 Mr. Abdulrahman A. Hussain Jawahery is the General Manager of Gulf Petrochemical Industries Co. (GPIC). He began his career in the BP Research Centre - UK and was there for two years before joining the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Co. (GPIC) in 1983. Having undergone extensive training and development both in the Kingdom of Bahrain as well as overseas, he has held a number of senior positions in GPIC including Operations Manager, Urea Project Manager, Plants Operation Manager and now General Manager.
As General Manager of one of the regions largest downstream petrochemical companies, Mr. Abdulrahman ensures that GPIC stays at the forefront of the regional petrochemical scene, and continues to be one of the largest regional manufacturers of basic petrochemicals and fertiliser. Founded in 1979, GPIC is owned in equal part by the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) and Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) Kuwait.
In addition to his responsibilities at GPIC, Mr. Abdulrahman is a member of the Shura Consultative Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Board Member of the National Oil and Gas Authority - Bahrain, Board Member of National Oil and Gas Holding Company - Bahrain, Board Member of Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO), Member of the Board of Trustees of Bahrain Polytechnic, Chairman of the Board of inJAz Bahrain, past Deputy Chairman of the Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA), Chairman of the Technical Committee of the International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA), Founding Member of both the Bahrain Society for Transfer of Technology and the Bahrain Planning Society.
Mr. Abdulrahman is also a Board Member of the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA), a Council Member of the International Fertilizer Association (IFA), a Board Member of the Arab Fertiliser Association (AFA), a member of the advisory committee at PetroBank Bahrain, a member of the GCC Board of Directors Institute and a member of the US-Bahrain Business Council. He is also an Ambassador of the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health - UK, as well as a member of a number of professional and social societies including Fellow of the Institute of Chemical Engineers - UK, Life Member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and Life Member of the Bahrain Society of Engineers.
Mr. Abdulrahman is a Chartered Chemical Engineer, Chartered Environmentalist and Chartered Scientist with a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering and Masters degree in Advanced Chemical Engineering from UK.
