The Bachelor of Business programme has been designed with an interdisciplinary focus to widen graduates’ ability to think strategically as well as enhance their employability opportunities. Graduates are assured to develop a sound understanding of the business environment whether in Sales, Marketing, Banking and Finance, Accounting or Management.
The Bachelor of Business aims to:
- Produce graduates who have broad-based business knowledge.
- Produce graduates with an understanding of and capabilities within, a specialised business field.
- Develop the English Language abilities of students to a level that will enable graduates to function at an appropriate level in the modern global business environment.
- Promote learning based on sound educational principles and an environment which reflects the business world.
- Equip students with the confidence and skills to be life-long learners and transformational agents throughout their business careers.
- Develop the academic and personal capability of students.
- Develop students’ abilities to expand their knowledge, adapt and apply skills such as research and critical thinking to any situation.
- Develop students’ awareness of global issues and the role they will play as members of the international community.
- Focus on real life sociological and ethical issues, which ensure their success in the modern world.
- The design of this programme also offers flexibility by allowing selection of elective courses from not only other business disciplines but also from other Bahrain Polytechnic degree programmes.

The programme is delivered through a mixture of interactive classroom lectures that involves case scenario analysis and problem-solving tasks, research projects, computer lab workshops, guest speakers, online forums and discussions, self-directed learning, small business set-up experiences and group tasks.
Assessment for the programme is achievement-based, and assessment methods may be drawn from:
- Practical business projects
- Written reports/projects/portfolios/essays/ reflective journals
- Presentations
- Case studies
- Tests and examinations
- Research projects
- Assessments may be a combination of individual and group work
Students are required to complete a full-semester course (The Industry Project) based around a “real world” business problem in the final year of the programme.

For applicants to be eligible for selection for available places in Degree and Diploma programmes, Bahrain Polytechnic uses two broad sets of criteria:
English competence for all programmes, and Specific criteria for each Diploma or Degree programme.
a) English Language Entry Requirements
Applicants must be competent in their use of the English language in reading, writing, speaking and listening, as demonstrated by:
- an official IELTS certificate no more than 6 months old with an average score of 5.0 or above and no individual band score less than 4.5 (equivalent English language assessment results from TOEFL or similar will also be considered); or
- successful completion of the Bahrain Polytechnic English for Academic Study 2 course; or
- passing the Bahrain Polytechnic English Language Entry Test at the required level Programme Entry Requirements
b) Programme-specific Entry Requirements
Applicants need to show competence in the use of personal computer applications and in fundamental mathematical processes. These requirements may be met by:
- Successful completion of Information Technology 1 and Data Analysis 1 of the Bahrain Polytechnic Foundation 1 programme; or
- Passing the Mathematics and IT selection tests at the required level.
* Where there are more students who meet the entry requirements than places available, a selection process against specific criteria will apply. Bahrain Polytechnic will give preference to those students who show the greatest promise of success as determined by applicants’ prior school achievement, the results from Polytechnic Entry Tests, and results from Bahrain Polytechnic courses (if applicable). Interviews may be used to clarify English academic achievement levels and to assist staff in selecting students motivated to succeed.
