Establishing Bahrain Polytechnic

The growth and diversification of Bahrains economy creates a demand for a more highly skilled Bahraini workforce, graduates who are work-ready and equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to make an immediate contribution.

The Economic Development Board (EDB) conducted a thorough analysis of industry requirements and identified a number of shortcomings in graduate capabilities. These shortcomings included poor English language skills, inadequate work skills, poor attitudes to work, lack of basic skills in IT and numeracy, absence of adaptability and flexibility, poor problem-solving skills, inadequate knowledge, poor study choice and lack of direction, and negative perceptions of many vocations.

All these critical aspects have been incorporated into Bahrain Polytechnics academic programmes, courses and plans, and are monitored through our Quality
Assurance System.

Bahrain Polytechnic was established to:

  • Bridge the labour market demand for skilled technical and applied professional graduates.
  • Replace the increasing expatriate work-force in the private sector with skilled Bahrainis.
  • Reduce high youth unemployment.
