Bahrain Polytechnic Celebrates Bahraini Women’s Day

Held under the patronage of Dr. Mohamed Al Aseeri, Acting CEO, the Polytechnic celebrated the Bahraini Women’s Day on 3rd December 2015 at the campus in Isa Town under the slogan “Bahraini Potentials” in an audience consisting of management, guests, academics, and students.

The celebration included a lecture delivered by Ms. Sawsan Abulhassan, CEO of Private Banking & Wealth Management of Ahli United Bank), where she spoke about her career in the banking sector, the challenges she faced and how she managed to overcome them to achieve her dream through hard work. This provided a model for the new generation of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The lecture was followed by another lecture delivered on entrepreneurship by Ms. Huda Janahi, who is considered one of the most prominent Bahraini woman entrepreneurs in a regional, Arab, and international level. She spoke to the students about her experience in the corporate world, where she has faced numerous challenges, where she shared examples about her will to achieve her dream, and reinforcing about the women’s ability to be innovative in the workforce, while being a caregiver to her family.

Dr. Al Aseeri commented: “Today, we salute all Bahraini women who have contributed to building and elevating the Kingdom of Bahrain to a high level. It is a great moment for all of us, as Bahraini women are a part of our daily lives, and a part of our Islamic teachings and values, and according to Bahrain’s laws and regulations. This is a special day, as we learn many lessons annually by focusing on the role of Bahraini women in a specific sector, to shed light on [women’s] role and to take pride.

Engineer Rana Ahmed Khalifa Ahmed, director of support centre for women at the Supreme Council for Women, stated: “Within the framework of our collaboration with higher education institutions in the Kingdom, one of which is Bahrain Polytechnic, was essential to participate in the event held on the occasion of the Bahraini women’s day under the title “Bahraini Potentials”, in recognition of the Polytechnic’s ongoing efforts and cooperation in supporting the events of the Supreme Council for Women.”

In conclusion, Dr. Al Aseeri awarded the speakers for their participation and for sharing their experiences with the students, which with no doubt, motivate and enrich their knowledge and enable them to overcome work-related obstacles. He also thanked all whom have organized the event consisting of staff, students, and members of the student council.
