Bahrain Polytechnic Holds Fourth Graduation Ceremony

His Highness Sh. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Higher Education and Training Development, has patronised Bahrain Polytechnic’s fourth graduation ceremony which took place on 29th November 2017 at the Sh. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Hall, University of Bahrain, Sakhir. The ceremony was attended by several officials, ministers, alumni, parents and guests.

H.H. Sh. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa praised the Polytechnic for elevating its name to the highest of levels as statistically attested by the progress in graduate numbers, their standards and their ability to enter the labour market. More than 70% of the Polytechnic’s curricula cover the practical aspects to meet the labour market requirements and the business sector, His Highness said. He added that the Polytechnic, which was inaugurated in 2008, has developed remarkably in terms of its theoretical and practical subjects, where more than 85% of its graduates found jobs immediately. Graduates also found jobs before they graduated, opted to become entrepreneurs, or pursued for postgraduate studies.

The Deputy Premier hailed the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for providing utmost care and attentiveness to boost the educational development supported by His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.

H.H. Sh. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa stressed the importance of the Polytechnic, noting its significantly successful output since it was established as part of the Education and Training Development Scheme in line with the Government Action Plan and the Bahrain Vision 2030.

His Highness congratulated the graduates and their parents and thanked Bahrain Polytechnic’s Board of Trustees, the CEO, and all staff members from the academic and the administrative bodies for their efforts in achieving the institution’s mission.

On this occasion, H.E. Dr. Majed bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Higher Education Council delivered a speech where he thanked the patron of the ceremony for his wise leadership to the council. He stressed the importance of applied and technical education which is based on creativity and innovation towards enhancing sustainable development. He added that Bahrain Polytechnic will continue empowering the students with the required skills and competencies for the fourth industrial revolution.

During the ceremony, the CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, Dr. Jeff Zabudsky, expressed his gratitude to the patron of the ceremony H.H. Sh. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, and to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, H.E. Sh. Hisham bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, for their great role in establishing the vision, mission and values ​​of the Polytechnic and for their continuous support. He also thanked the academic and administrative bodies at the Polytechnic for their constant efforts and dedication to the Polytechnic.

The guest of honour, H.E. Sh. Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Company (ASRY) and Chairman of Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), delivered a speech in which he stressed that Polytechnic is a living example of the modern educational process, and managed to produce a large number of graduates who are characterized by high efficiency, quality, capability, and responsibility to enter the labour market.

H.E. Sh. Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa pointed out that Alba is witnessing a huge expansion which is a major shift in the primary aluminum industry and the manufacturing industries that depend on it. This requires employing more graduates specialized in this field, especially since this national company employs a large number of Bahrainis, which amounts to 85% of the total workforce.

After that, Polytechnic graduate Mohammed Abdulrasool Ghayeb delivered a speech on behalf of the graduates, followed by a movie done by Bahrain Polytechnic students.

H.E. Sh. Hisham bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Chairman of Bahrain Polytechnic’s Board of Trustees, expressed his thanks and appreciation to H.H. Sh. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa for his patronage of the Polytechnic graduation ceremony annually and for his continuous support to the Polytechnic.

In recognition of this great honour for the patron of the ceremony, Sh. Hisham bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa announced the renaming of the Polytechnic Library Learning Centre to “The Library of H.H. Sh. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa”.

H.H. Sh. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa distributed the graduation certificates to 232 graduates.
