The Bahrain Polytechnic Student council (BPSC) met with the executive management in order to discuss a draft of their future work plan for the upcoming Academic Year.

Mohamed Al Abbasi and Fatima Al Hammadi, president and vice-president of BPSC respectively, submitted a detailed presentation of the number of events to be conducted during the first semester of the Academic Year 2015-2016, including getting involved in this year’s new student Orientation Day 2015. Dr. Mohamed Al Aseeri, Acting CEO, was present listening to the ideas.

Fatima Al Hammadi presented a list of potential sponsors from various institutions around the Kingdom of Bahrain which share a similar vision to the Polytechnic and BPSC.

Dr. Al Aseeri stressed the importance of BPSC’s role in creating a unique atmosphere for the new students [entering Bahrain Polytechnic], ensuring that they are in a comfortable educational environment with a mixture of diverse services.

BPSC members were busy during the summer holidays by meeting up several times in order to build on their success last year. These meetings included topics such as how to plan better events, distribution of roles among volunteers, and how to raise the level if importance of voluntary work in order to increase the number of volunteers.

Fatima commented: “The student council holds these meetings regularly, as per the policy approved by the Board of Trustees. These meetings gave us [members] the opportunity to build on our teamwork.

“We come up with ideas in every meeting, mostly related to student affairs since we represent them. We listen carefully to their needs, come up with a recommendation and then turn it into a fact. This is then shared with the executive management.

“This eventually taught us the art of leadership and how to follow a system, while showing us how to be insightful at the same time.” she concluded.

Fatima and Mohamed thanked the Acting CEO for his open door policy with all members of student council and volunteers, where he supported the work of the council and attended their successful events and activities while bringing their ideas to life.
