The event marked the culmination of the Founders Launchpad Program, delivered in partnership with Spring Co, and the MVP Development Program delivered in collaboration with Raincode. Through both programs, 9 startups progressed from early-stage ideas into functional Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) supported by mentorship, validation activities, workshops, and technical development led by ICT student developers.

The event featured startup booths, live solution demonstrations, and pitches, allowing attendees to engage directly with founders and explore innovative solutions across industries including MedTech, logistics, AI-powered solutions, mental wellness, and technology-driven business solutions.

The event also featured a judging panel comprising distinguished industry leaders and ecosystem experts from Bahrain’s entrepreneurship and business community, providing feedback and recognition to participating startups.

The MoU was signed by Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, and Dr. Yasser Al Wahedi, President of Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy, in the presence of senior officials from both entities.

The MoU establishes a framework for collaboration to explore joint opportunities across several areas, including the development and delivery of training programmes and courses of mutual interest, train-the-trainer initiatives, and the organisation of lectures, workshops, events, and conferences. It also includes providing internship and work-placement opportunities (Cadetship) for Bahrain Polytechnic students and graduates.

In addition, the MoU promotes collaboration in applied research projects that contribute to the development of technologies that support the maritime sector, marine engineering, maritime security, and logistics. In addition, the partnership will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise in technical and engineering fields, and the development of advanced training programmes in emerging technologies and applied research, thereby fostering innovation and strengthening the alignment between academic outcomes and the needs of the industrial and maritime sectors.

Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, stated that this partnership represents a strategic step aligned with Bahrain Polytechnic’s Strategic Plan 2026–2029, which focuses on enhancing applied education, expanding regional and international partnerships, and improving student readiness for the labour market through the integration of academic learning with practical experience. The cooperation under this MOU includes providing internship opportunities and industry projects for high-performing students, implementing career mentorship programs linking students with KPMG professionals, and developing students’ soft skills in leadership, problem-solving, and communication. It also includes organizing lectures, seminars, and workshops led by KPMG experts, as well as providing advisory support to align academic curricula with market needs.

The initiative further encompasses collaboration on projects in data analytics, cybersecurity, sustainability (ESG), fintech, and the integration of AI tools into curricula and laboratories, alongside organizing field visits for students.

Bahrain Polytechnic has become the latest applied high education institution to be welcomed into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program. The Bachelor of Business (Banking & Finance) Program has been acknowledged as incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Program curriculum and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct within the program. This positions students well to pursue the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charter, one of the most respected and recognized investment credentials globally.

Entry into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program signals to potential students, employers, and the marketplace that Bahrain Polytechnic’s curriculum is closely aligned with professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students for the CFA Program examinations.

Through this affiliation, Bahrain Polytechnic is eligible to receive a limited number of CFA Program Student Scholarships each year.
