Mr. Ahmed Malalla, Bahrain Polytechnic’s Director of Registry, stated that all admission related fees will be paid by debit or credit card only starting from the application period for the first semester of the Academic Year 2016-17. As the Polytechnic will be shifting to an electronic payment system, no cash payment will be accepted.
He added that the application period will begin on Monday, 25th April 2016 until Thursday, 16th June 2016 from 9 AM – 1:30 PM at the Polytechnic campus in Isa Town.
“The process of applying to the Polytechnic this year will be done through the internet, which has been the case for the past 3 years and received positive feedback.” added Mr. Malalla. “The applicant would just need to fill the online application form through our website (http://www.polytechnic.bh), print the signature page, pay the application fee (BD 20 non-refundable) by debit or credit card at the Student Information Centre (Building 8), and submit the required documents: an original and copy of passport and smart card, one passport size photo, high school transcript, evidence of good conduct (not more than one year old), medical examination certificate from governmental health centre. If the applicant is applying to the Visual Design programme, they must provide a portfolio of their art work.
“The Registry Directorate will then verify the documents, go through the selection process, and set a date for the entry tests.
Due to limited vacancies, the selection of applicants to Bahrain Polytechnic will be ‘very competitive’. Mr. Malalla advised that applicants who meet the minimum high school GPA requirements of at least 70% (to be provided with the graduation certificate), and pass the entry test scheduled to begin on 2nd May 2016 are not guaranteed to be selected, as it depends on the programme requirements and the number of vacant seats in that year. Mr. Malalla recommends that applicants apply to more than one educational institution to ensure the potential applicant does not miss the opportunity for higher education.
Mr. Yusuf Ahmedi, Bahrain Polytechnic’s Director of Finance, confirmed that as of 25th April 2016, all financial transactions done with the Polytechnic will be done through a debit or credit card, and cash payment will not be accepted, as the Polytechnic is continuously coordinating with the Ministry of Finance in this regard, and with that came the decision to provide an electronic payment device. Mr. Ahmedi urges all students and applicants to be aware of this new shift to the e-payment system.
Bahrain Polytechnic offers the following academic programmes: Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of International Logistics Management, Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology, Bachelor of Engineering Technology, Bachelors of Web Media, Bachelors of Visual Design (which requires a portfolio).
