Bahrain Polytechnic second year Mechanical Engineering students tested their bridges in an open event on Thursday 10th April 2014. As part of School of Engineering’s efforts in implementing PB, students were presented with a challenge to design and build a bridge using wooden tongue depressors with help from calculations they learned in their ENB5902 Engineering Mechanics 2 course. Students were competing in building a bridge which can withstand the highest load and most accurate load predictions based on their calculations. The winners for the highest load were AbdulQader A. AbdulQader and Mohamed Y. Albufalah, this group predicted their bridge will withstand 90Kg and it managed to successfully hold 85Kg (6% error) and the most accurate group scored 0% error were Ammar H. Ali and Hasan S. Khalaf were they predicted their bridge will withstand 70kg
