Following a fruitful collaboration, Bahrain Polytechnic signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Bahrain Breast Cancer Society (Think Pink), renewing its joint-cooperation which was first signed in 2015. Both parties have agreed to renew its cooperation, with a focus on social responsibility and active citizenship.

The memorandum stipulates that the organizations will engage in a range of initiatives, including research and engaging Bahrain Polytechnic degree students in Service-Learning projects, as well as conducting annual breast cancer campaigns.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by the CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, and by the President of Think Pink, Dr. Julie Frances Sprakel, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.

Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, stated: “Bahrain Polytechnic is committed as an institution towards the betterment of the community, and amongst its areas of focus are education and health. Over the years, Bahrain Polytechnic worked with Think Pink on a number of initiatives such as the development of the Public Service Announcement and the co-development of the bilingual mobile application, iCheck, both of which had an impact on the national and international community.” He continued: “We are delighted to renew the memorandum and to further our collaboration with Think Pink”.

The President of Think Pink, Dr. Julie Frances Sprakel, stated: “We are always honoured to partner with like-minded institutions whom emulate the ethos of the Charity and its mission and vision. It has been a pleasure over the years to be supported by the students of Bahrain Polytechnic, many of whom have the taken up voluntary roles as Alumni. We look forward to a continued collaboration.”

For its dedication to the cause, Bahrain Polytechnic proudly received the ‘Community Engagement Award’ from Think Pink in 2016 for its community engagement efforts, which included raising awareness and engaging students across multiple disciplines in projects in aid of the charity.
