Bahrain Polytechnic has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the British Council, officially accrediting Bahrain Polytechnic as both a registration centre for the IELTS test and a closed testing centre. The agreement also includes the establishment of a B2B electronic portal, enabling the Polytechnic to efficiently track student registrations.
The agreement was signed by the Chief Executive of Bahrain Polytechnic, Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin and Mr Fakhar Jaffery, Director of Examinations for Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain at the British Council, in the presence of several officials from both parties.
On this occasion, Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin expressed his satisfaction with the British Council’s accreditation of Bahrain Polytechnic as an IELTS registration centre. ‘The IELTS test has become a basic requirement for admission to most prestigious universities, which enhances Bahrain Polytechnic’s standing in academic circles,’ he stated. ‘Choosing the Polytechnic as an accredited IELTS testing centre is a testament to its performance quality, efficiency and excellence, and reflects the institution’s commitment to offering educational services that help refine students’ skills and develop their capabilities.’
As part of the Memorandum of Understanding, the British Council will conduct a workshop for IELTS teachers and provide orientation sessions on IELTS. These will cover writing tasks 1 and 2, speaking, listening and reading skills for all candidates, thereby ensuring that Bahrain Polytechnic students are well-prepared for their tests.
Mr Fakhar Jaffery also commended the partnership, noting its significance for educational development in the region, and stated: ‘We are pleased to partner with Bahrain Polytechnic to extend IELTS services and support students on their academic and professional journeys. This collaboration reflects our commitment to providing access to quality English language assessment and to working with leading institutions to enhance educational outcomes across the region.’
This partnership marks a strategic milestone in Bahrain’s higher education sector, opening doors for students to gain internationally recognised language qualifications directly through their institution. It reflects Bahrain Polytechnic’s commitment to global standards and ensures that learners are better equipped for academic pursuits abroad and professional advancement. With direct access to IELTS testing and tailored preparation resources, students now have a clear and streamlined path to success.
