Learning Research for Knowledge Dissemination
As a learning organisation, the Polytechnic strives to continuously inform its academic practices through knowledge gained through the development and sharing of academic research work. Knowledge generated from applied research is transferred between industry and academia and into students’ learning. Students’ involvement in research will further enhance their academic development.
Innovation Research for New Knowledge Creation
Innovation is achieved by creating new knowledge through the process, experience, and findings of applied research. Undertaking applied experimental research seeks to solve industry needs and problems, which leads to new innovative processes, new products, new services, and new technologies being created.
Excellence Research of a World Class Level
Research that is world standard as measured by its application to industry, the academic community, and through publications.
Research Strategic Plan
The Bahrain Polytechnic Strategic Research Plan describes the way that the Polytechnic maintains a thriving and sustainable research culture, encourages student and staff research and engages with industry in collaborative research partnerships. This plan sets the direction for the Research Committee to ensure that the priorities determined by the Polytechnic’s mission and vision are linked to Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 that places importance on the Kingdom’s ability to diversify and grow the economy through applied research, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Research Committee
The Polytechnic Research Committee is formally constituted by the Academic Board. The committee has delegated responsibility from the Academic Board to oversee and monitor all research undertaken at, or about, Bahrain Polytechnic. The committee has a specific focus on the ethics and academic quality of research undertaken by Polytechnic staff and students. This includes monitoring, reviewing, and providing advice to ensure that research activities and outputs are of high quality and are ethically sound. The committee also provides advice on approval processes for external researchers wishing to use the Polytechnic as a source of data.
