Bahrain Polytechnic awarded 24 of its students who have prepared, organized, and participated in the 5th edition of the Bahrain International Airshow 2018 (BIAS 2018), which was held from 14th to 16th November at the Sakhir Air Base.

This was the first initiative from the memorandum of understanding signed between Bahrain Polytechnic and the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, which included an agreement to train a group of students with the organizing team of the BIAS 2018.

Twenty-four Polytechnic students were selected as trainees (1 from web media, and 23 from logistics), and were trained for a duration of 2 months. They worked in several fields such as organization, customer service, and marketing.

Additionally, four more Polytechnic students from the Faculty of Engineering were honored for their initiative in overseeing the Polytechnic’s stand at the Air show for three consecutive days, where they presented several engineering projects to companies and participants of the Air Show.

On behalf of the Polytechnic’s CEO Dr. Jeff Zabudsky, the Polytechnic’s Deputy CEO of Resources and Information Affairs, Sh. Ali bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, has thanked the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication and BIAS organizers for providing this opportunity to the students. He also thanked the participating students for their commitment, which had a positive impact for themselves as well as the Polytechnic.

He added: “We are delighted to have this unique opportunity for our students. Their active participation in this important event showcases the competencies as Polytechnic students at a global level, since the BIAS is participated by the world’s largest companies. By integrating our students within different roles to organize the exhibition, these companies will witness their level of performance, which not only enhances the reputation our qualified Bahraini employees, but also attracts international companies to Bahrain to create employment and training opportunities.”

Mr. Yousif Mohamed Mahmood, Director of Bahrain International Airshow, stated: “The inspiration to involve Polytechnic students in this important event was based on the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunication’s directives of the importance of involving young people and empowering them in honing their skills in order to benefit different segments in society and contribute to future professional decision-making. We are very confident in our young generation, and we expect them to have a successful future, and we wish them all the best.

Sh. Ali bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa and Russol Ali, representative from BIAS, awarded the students at its campus.
