Several students from Bahrain Polytechnic were given a vital role in their respective companies during the concluded Career Expo 2013, which occurred over three days towards the end of October at the Bahrain Exhibition Center.

Producing work-ready graduates has always been the Polytechnic’s motto, as students were given practical experience to represent major companies related to telecommunications, training institutes and media clubs.

Dr. Mohamed Al-Aseeri, Acting CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic asserted that the government educational institution is heading the correct direction in order to graduate students with a vast corporate understanding.

“What we try to do here [at the Polytechnic] is make sure students leave while knowing what they will be facing outside the classrooms.” he said.

“The students were able to learn the basic skills of customer service, sales and marketing.

“Not only that, but they were given a chance to network with the many other companies which attended the expo this year.”

The Career Expo 2013 is an annually hosted event which runs for three days, where many attendees ranging from students to job-seekers are given the opportunity to inquire about the respective companies.

Bahrain Polytechnic focuses on a problem-based learning approach; an internationally recognized teaching method which helps a student develop academically and practicality.

“During the students’ 3rd or 4th year, we send them out to companies where they will have to produce a project regarding the company, such as implementing new ideas or solving a problem.” continued Dr. Al-Aseeri.

“I thank the companies which were able to mentor our students during their stay with them. We are planning on dealing with many more companies to send our students to work in.

“I’m delighted that we’re doing our part to meet the job demands of Bahrain, following the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and government work programme 2011-2014.” concluded the Acting CEO.
