These programmes at Masters (1.5 years) and PHD (3 years) level aim to offer students with the necessary skills for a career in research and make a significant contribution to knowledge in their field of study.

Project Types
There will be two types of projects:
- Projects sponsored by Industry
A number of Engineering projects have already been sourced from Industry and will be sponsored by these companies. For master’s level projects, this includes registration fees and a budget for consumables. For PhD level projects, this may also include monthly stipend for the student.
- Self-sponsored projects
We are also looking for project proposals from Bahrain Polytechnic researchers for self-sponsored projects. Given Bahrain Polytechnic’s focus on Applied Research, these projects should be linked to Industry, either solving a problem for a local company or being undertaken in partnership with a local industry expert who will provide support during the duration of the project.

Description & Structure
Bahrain Polytechnic is proud to launch its postgraduate applied research programs Master of Science by Research (MRes) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme. This is a significant step forward in its strategic development plan. Research is one of the core components of its strategic development plan. This initiative aligns with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030. The aim of these programmes is to enhance educational offerings and contribute to the nation’s growth. These programmes address the evolving needs of the Bahraini workforce by equipping graduates with advanced research skills and industry-relevant knowledge. These programmes have been designed to be aligned with industry requirements and trends. These programmes ensure graduates possess the expertise that employers seek. This launch strengthens Bahrain Polytechnic’s reputation as a leader in education within the region. It fosters a culture of research and development, driving innovation and economic prosperity.
Industries require highly trained researchers to solve complex challenges and develop innovative solutions. The graduates from these research programmes will possess the necessary skills to analyze and interpret data, to conduct independent research and to communicate the research findings effectively. These programmes directly benefit industries by fostering a workforce capable of driving technological advancements and addressing specific problems.
The Master of Research (MRes) programme offered by Bahrain Polytechnic is postgraduate degree programme. This program offers the opportunity to the participants to develop the research skills and deep knowledge necessary to make a contribution to the knowledge to their field of study. This program acts as a stepping-stone to a PhD program and also equips graduates with valuable research skills for research-oriented jobs in academia, industry, or government.
The primary objectives of this program are to:
- Develop specialist skills and knowledge in their discipline through deep engagement with their chosen area of study.
- Develop research and transferable skills across the areas of research, communication, personal effectiveness, team working, leadership, career management and innovation.
- Develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to critically evaluate existing knowledge, identify research gaps, and propose solutions to complex problems.

The overall aim of this PhD Programme is that the graduate will make a significant contribution to knowledge to their field of study and will disseminate this knowledge to a wider audience. The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme offered by Bahrain Polytechnic is a graduate degree programme. This program offers the opportunity to the participants to develop the research skills and deep knowledge necessary to make a contribution to the knowledge to their field of study.
The primary objectives of this program are to:
- Make a significant and original contribution to knowledge in their discipline through deep engagement with their chosen area of study.
- Develop specialist and transferable skills across the areas of communication, personal effectiveness, team working, leadership, career management and innovation.
