Bahrain Polytechnic and the Nasser Vocational Training Center signed a memorandum of understanding in an aim to cooperate in the field of vocational and technological training, notably in artificial intelligence. The center aims to benefit from the expertise of the Polytechnic in this field in its quest to establish a modern and advanced center for research and development of artificial intelligence.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by Bahrain Polytechnic’s Acting CEO, Dr. Reem Albuainain, and by the Nasser Vocational Training Center’s General Director, Dr. Abdullah AlNoaimi.
The Nasser Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Centre aims to consolidate university academies and students AI researches and innovations in a centralize location with guidelines from expertise. This initiative will save cost of isles of laboratories, applications and individual efforts. Furthermore, researchers will be enabled to obtain various industry requirements by benefiting from their presence.
In turn, Bahrain Polytechnic will commit to participate and use facilities in Nasser AI R&D Centre as its focal location for all its AI researches, innovations and projects for its students and academies.
On this occasion, Dr. Albuainain expressed her delight at signing the memorandum of understanding with the Nasser Vocational Training Centre, stressing that this cooperation would achieve one of the most important strategic objectives of the Polytechnic, which seeks to build a generation of citizens with distinguished technical skills and competencies according to the highest local and international standards. She pointed out that the Polytechnic was a pioneer in introducing initiatives related to artificial intelligence, such as establishing the region’s first AI Academy, and by hosting the annual Khalid bin Hamad Competition for Innovation in Artificial Intelligence, in addition to a number of initiatives related to this field, which has become an essential pillar in the prosperity of the national economy.
Nasser AI R&D Centre will ensure Bahrain Polytechnic R&D requirements are studied and taken into consideration through provision of facilities and guidelines.
For his part, the Nasser Vocational Training Center’s General Director, Dr. Abdullah AlNoaimi, stated that they this signing is the start to integrate the delivery of education and training services between the two institutions, which makes this memorandum a step in the right path for the development of the education process of the Kingdom. He added that this will supply the local labor market with qualified and professionals that are capable of raising the efficiency of Bahraini workers, which will be reflected in all sectors in the Kingdom.
Dr. AlNoaimi added: “It is fortunate that the step of signing the memorandum of understanding coincides with the imminent announcement of the inauguration of the His Highness Sh. Nasser Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Centre. The promising center specializes in one of the most important modern sciences on which the world depends to be the science of the future. This will undoubtedly be reflected during our collaboration, especially in the field of scientific research and training, where we aim to prepare students to engage in this field and equip them with the latest findings of the world in this modern, unique and highly desirable specialization.”
