The Project Description
My interest is to develop innovative solutions for structural rehabilitation, thereby protecting significant investments in RC infrastructure, and contributing to the sustainability of economic endeavors. Currently, there is a notable gap in knowledge regarding the flexural and shear behavior of corroded beams repaired with FRM composites. Furthermore, the feasibility and effectiveness of using cement-based FRM composites, as well as cement-free geopolymer-based FRM composites, as sustainable repair solutions for enhancing the behavior of RC beams with corroded reinforcement, have not been adequately explored in the literature.
To address this gap, my research combines experimental testing with numerical modeling. The experimental aspect involves conducting laboratory tests to evaluate the structural performance of RC beams repaired with FRM composites under various loading conditions. This experimental data, alongside the results of finite element analysis and validated numerical models, will provide valuable insights into the effectiveness and sustainability of using FRM composites for RC beam rehabilitation. My long-term goal is to develop practical design recommendations that can assist practitioners and researchers in designing and implementing sustainable solutions for the rehabilitation of elements with corroded reinforcement. This research is aligned with the world agenda’s goal of providing a sustainable environment and infrastructure, which is critical for the future well-being of our society.
