An external validation panel of experts was invited from 4th-5th June to evaluate the suitability of a newly developed major in Events Management. The validation criteria were focus on content, quality and relevance to industry based on international standards to ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of the labor market. The panel concluded that the development process and the curriculum were outstanding; they also agreed that the new major exceeded their expectations in terms of content, quality and understanding of the local and regional industry.
The panel involved Events Management experts from Leeds Metropolitan University in the UK and HAAGA-HELIA University in Finland. The panel also involved a Bahraini industry expert, the managing director from Finmark Communications. The experts met with the Events management major development team from the Polytechnic and the Curriculum Advisory Group. It must be noted that the Advisory Group played a crucial role in the development process, to ensure that the new major is suitable for the needs of the local market and consistent with the international industry standards. The committee members are highly ranked representatives from organizations and companies such as the Ministry of Culture, the Ritz Carlton hotel, BECA, Sportique88 and the Origin Group.
The Bahrain Polytechnic Business School is expected to launch soon the Events Management major as part of its Bachelor of Business degree.
