Bahrain Polytechnic hosts ACCA “University Challenge”

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in collaboration with Bahrain Polytechnic hosted a “University Challenge”, an exciting interactive trivia that tests students on their general knowledge and accounting concepts. About 60 students participated in the test, where they were divided into 12 groups.

The challenge consists of three rounds that run for approximately two hours, and included tests for the participants’ knowledge and application of accounting concepts, along with their general knowledge as gained throughout their educational journey.
The first round consisted of multiple-choice questions, while round 2 comprised of an accounting crossword and the final round included 30 questions that must be answered using Kahoot within 10 seconds for each question.

The Polytechnic Chief Executive Officer Professor Ciarán ÓCatháin praised the collaboration with the ACCA, emphasizing the importance of partnerships with professional bodies in enhancing the academic and professional knowledge and expertise of the Polytechnic students. He added that this will provide them the necessary skills to prepare them for work, which goes in line with  its Strategic Plan  2023-2026 that seeks to enhance the Polytechnic’s existing partnerships and build new strategic partnerships that are in the interest of the students, industry partners, and alumni. He also added that such partnerships will also benefit the economy with an aim to improve education, health, research, and innovation, which is in line with Bahrain’s 2030 Vision.

For her part, Bahrain Polytechnic’s Programme Manager of Accounting, Kubra Edhrabooh, stated: “The ACCA University challenge is a great way for students to engage with and learn more about the world of business and accounting and to hopefully intrigue their interest for a fulfilling career in accounting and finance”.

For his part, the ACCA Business Relationship Executive – Middle East, Ahmad Bilal Manzoor said that “The ACCA firmly believes that a robust accountancy profession is essential to building a prosperous and equitable society, which supports sustainable development in both the public and private sectors. To further this mission, ACCA works closely with leading universities around the world. We are proud on our partnership with Bahrain Polytechnic to elevate the standards of the accounting profession in the region”, explaining that “The competition was exclusively designed for high-performing students pursuing their Bachelor’s degree at the university. The event was met with an overwhelmingly positive response, and participants provided excellent feedback”
Mr. Manzoor congratulated the winning team members and expressed his gratitude to Bahrain Polytechnic for supporting this endeavor.

At the end of the competition, prizes and certificates were awarded to the first three winners, while other participants received certificates of attendance.
