Bahrain Polytechnic signed a memorandum of understanding with OpenInside at the Polytechnic campus on 30th March 2016. The Polytechnic students will have the opportunity to gain practical training and gain expertise in the field technology solutions, and will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired during their studies.
Signing this agreement with Openinside is a step towards meeting the needs of the labor market by providing skilled Bahrainis.
This memorandum also contributes by combining education with practical work as part of the government action plan 2015-2018 and Bahrain 2030 Vision, which will positively affect the Polytechnic students and the aviation industry in the Kingdom in an aim to develop the national economy.
This MOU will allow the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and ideas for students to create projects. Students will also be able to work at the firm as interns. Additionally, the Polytechnic and Openinside will collaborate together to conduct research projects in the field of technology solutions and to increase Bahrainization within the sector, especially in empowering Bahraini women to work in this sector. Furthermore, short programs will be organized between both parties as refreshers to keep up to date with the latest news happening in the industry, as well as any involvement with developing and enhancing students’ skills in entrepreneurship and professionalism.
On this occasion, Acting CEO, Dr. Mohamed Al Aseeri, said: “This signing comes to bridge the labor market gap with a skilled Bahraini force and to develop the applied higher education sector and research in order to achieve the priorities of the current and future goals of the Kingdom of Bahrain. It also paves the way to merge applied higher education in an aim to fulfill the 2015-2018 government action plan and 2030 Vision, which will no doubt will have a positive impact on the future of our students and the technology solutions sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in an aim to develop the national economy.”
Dr. Al Aseeri concluded: “We are happy to sign this memorandum with Openinside, which will help us reach our strategic goal for 2015-2019 which reached its second year under the supervision of the Board of Trustees. Bahrain Polytechnic looks forward to developing its relationships with other prestigious organizations to reach its goals, and in turn serves the Kingdom of Bahrain.
CEO of Openinside, Ameer Yousif, said: “Commenting on what Dr. Al Aseeri said, we emphasize on the importance of boosting the cooperation between OpenInside and Bahrain Polytechnic in the development of the Bahraini youth. We currently have three groups of students who are working with OpenInside team in the design and implementation of a range of projects that serve Bahrain and the GCC. We are pleased to establish this relationship of cooperation and develop it further starting next semester by incubating a larger group of students for training and participation in research and development activities. Noting that a group of Bahrain Polytechnic graduates are currently working in the company after the completion of their internship period which makes this an opportunity for the new trainees”.
