Bahrain Polytechnic Hosts Zain Polytechnic Universities Football Tournament

Bahrain Polytechnic hosted the Zain Polytechnic Universities Football Tournament at the campus on May 16th 2015, where students and staff participated in a friendly football competition.

Sponsored by Zain Bahrain, seven teams from various universities around the Kingdom took part in the 6-hour tournament, where teams were  divided into two groups until one team reaped the reward.

Dr. Mohamed Al Aseeri, Acting CEO of the Polytechnic, stated: “The tournament gives a chance for the participants to show how skilful they are as well as their team-working abilities.

“We’ve always hosted sports activities at our campus, as we want to encourage that these activities are not only entertaining, but has health benefits as well.

“I’d like to thank Zain Bahrain for sponsoring, as well as cooperating, in this event. I’d also like to thank all the participating teams, and would like to congratulate the winners of the tournament.” concluded Dr. Al Aseeri.

”Our CSR strategy focuses on supporting youth-led initiatives and the Zain Polytechnic Universities Football Tournament is a pure example of inspiring the youth and fostering teamwork among the youth,” said Samya Hussain, Corporate communications manager  from Zain Bahrain.

The finals were contested between University of Bahrain and AMA University, where the former won two goals to nil. Applied Science University went on to finish 3rd place after beating Bahrain Polytechnic.

Bahrain Polytechnic, University of Bahrain (UOB), AMA University, Applied Science University (ASU), and Kingdom University participated in the tournament. The best player of the tournament was awarded to Mohammed Zaman from ASU, whereas the best goalkeeper was awarded to Hassan Shaker from UOB. Mahmood Essam from UOB was awarded for being the scorer of the tournament.
