Final year students can now perform industry projects in the field of hotel management after Bahrain Polytechnic signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Diplomat Hotel.
Additionally, there will be opportunities for full or part time jobs for the students, as they can now apply what they have learnt in an actual business.

Dr. Mohamed Al Aseeri, Acting CEO, knew that students needed to earn practical experience in order to be work-ready when they graduate.

“We want to provide our students with skills in hotel and event management. This will give them the opportunity to get experience in a work environment before they graduate from the Polytechnic.

“We want to keep working with renowned companies to give our students more opportunities like these, fitting into Bahrain’s 2030 Vision and the government action plan 2015-2018.” said Dr. Al Aseeri after the signing ceremony.

Dr. Charalampos Giousmpasoglou, a Polytechnic tutor stated on behalf of the School of Business: “We are happy to have The Diplomat as a strategic partner in the new events management major. The hotel’s senior management already has a valuable contribution in the development of the major. We really look forward to see our students working in projects side by side with the experienced and highly qualified professionals. We also hope that very soon we see our talented graduates being part of the hotel’s management team.”

Panos Panagis General Manager of the Hotel stated: “The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel and its owning company National Hotels Company, listed on the Bahrain Stock exchange, are pleased to once again support local employment and management development through the Bahrain Polytechnic initiative.

“One of our main objectives is to develop local talent into having meaningful and rewarding careers in the hospitality industry.” he continued.

The students will be interacting with various departments within the hotel, such as events management, accounting, human resources and marketing. The students’ projects will be evaluated by both the Polytechnic tutors and a supervisor from the Diplomat Hotel.
