Bahrain Polytechnic launched its Orientation Week for new students on Sunday, 8th September 2024, which will run until Thursday, 12th September. The week is designed to help new students transition smoothly into university life as they prepare for the start of the new academic year on Monday, 16th September 2024.
The event opened with a welcome speech from the Deputy CEO of Academic Affairs and Registrar, Dr. Louise O’Nolan, who congratulated the new students on joining Bahrain Polytechnic. She encouraged them to dedicate themselves to achieving their goals, participate in student activities, and not hesitate to ask questions or seek clarification, as doing so will benefit them throughout their studies.
Mr. Munther Bahzad, Director of Student Resources, highlighted that throughout Orientation Week, the student support teams are focused on empowering students to utilize the available tools and services, ensuring a smooth transition to life at Bahrain Polytechnic. Key topics covered during the week include information available on Moodle, such as registration processes, accessing lecture timetables, and activating student accounts. Students were also introduced to the Polytechnic’s vision, mission, values, and principles.
In addition, the orientation provided an overview of institutional policies and regulations, informing students of their rights and responsibilities, how to file complaints, and the services offered by several departments such as the Career & Employment Centre and the Library Learning Center.
The agenda also featured a video presentation that gave students a virtual campus tour, followed by an interactive “Kahoot” quiz. This educational activity was designed to energize and engage students, fostering a shift from a traditional learning environment to one that is enthusiastic, fun, and competitive.
Mr. Bahzad wished all Bahrain Polytechnic students, especially the new students, a successful and productive academic year. He assured them that the Polytechnic’s departments are fully prepared to provide support and address any challenges students may face.
