His Excellency Engineer Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture; Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bahrain Polytechnic, confirmed the Polytechnic’s progress towards achieving its strategic goals for the years 2023-2026. This includes transforming Bahrain Polytechnic into a modern, efficient, innovative, and flexible regional provider of higher vocational education, catering to the needs of the labor market in various fields.
This came during the first meeting of the Board of Trustees of Bahrain Polytechnic for the year 2024. Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, the CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, reviewed several achievements of the Polytechnic’s strategic plan, including the ongoing process of accepting applications for the upcoming academic year 2024-2025, which continues until March 9, 2024. The statistics so far indicate an increase in the number of students interested in studying engineering, information technology, and communications, reflecting the awareness of the next generation regarding the specialties demanded by the local and global job market, which Bahrain Polytechnic always takes into consideration when designing its programs.
Furthermore, Professor Ciarán, discussed the latest developments related to registration in the Apprenticeship program and the selection process for candidates, noting the significant interest the program has received from both companies and students. This confirms Bahrain Polytechnic’s progress towards becoming a leading provider of higher vocational education and a contributor to achieving Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 while supplying the national professional workforce, which plays a significant role in the country’s economic prosperity.
On another note, Professor Ó Catháin presented the development and expansion projects in the main campus of Bahrain Polytechnic in Isa Town, as well as the expansion outside the campus in Hidd and Tubli, which will provide flexible educational options throughout the kingdom.
In conclusion, Chairman of the Board of Trustees His Excellency Engineer Al Mubarak, accompanied by the CEO and members of the Board of Trustees, conducted an inspection tour to observe the latest developments in the expansion project of Bahrain Polytechnic’s campus. H.E. Engineer Al Mubarak emphasized the importance of continuing to keep pace with modern learning methods that stimulate creativity and innovation and ensure continued leadership while aligning with the requirements of the labour market. He expressed gratitude to the executive management for their tremendous efforts in bringing about this qualitative leap in Bahrain Polytechnic and to all the members of the Board of Trustees for their valuable input.
