Bahrain Polytechnic and Bahrain Specialist Hospital have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in the fields of education, training, development, and health promotion. This collaboration aims to enhance integration into the labor market, aligning with Bahrain’s 2030 Vision and addressing the evolving needs of the labor market. The MoU was signed by Bahrain Polytechnic’s CEO, Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, and Bahrain Specialist Hospital’s Managing Director, Dr. Qasim Ardati.

Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin emphasized the importance of integrated training and educational programs that enhance the skills of national cadres and contribute to their development. This can be achieved through effective partnerships between the Polytechnic and various government and private entities in the fields of education, training, scientific research, innovation, and creativity.

He emphasized that the partnership signifies the Polytechnic’s commitment to enhancing the quality of healthcare services for citizens. The collaboration aims to bolster the healthcare sector in Bahrain by offering national expertise to healthcare institutions, which comes under its direction to establish the new Allied Health Directorate at Bahrain Polytechnic. He added that this initiative is in line with its Strategic Plan 2023-2026 which focuses on providing educational and training programs that align with the kingdom’s economic directions and the needs of the labor market.

In turn, Dr. Qasim Ardati, the Managing Director of Bahrain Specialist Hospital, stated that Bahrain Polytechnic and Bahrain Specialist Hospital aim to collaborate and coordinate efforts in several areas, including student internships, cooperative projects, internal and professional training, knowledge and experience exchange, and student performance evaluation to enhance their recruitment opportunities. Additionally, they will actively participate in the development of case studies and industry projects to be integrated into problem-solving-based curricula. The two parties will organize visits, forums, conferences, and invite guest speakers to enrich the learning experience. Furthermore, they will collaborate on various research projects, studies, and graduation projects.

It is worth mentioning that Bahrain Polytechnic, in collaboration with the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), has launched the first training program in the Kingdom for obtaining a “Certificate in Infection Prevention and Control.” This program specifically targets healthcare professionals and aims to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to obtain a certified infection prevention and control certificate. It covers planning and implementing infection prevention and control standards and guidelines in various healthcare institutions to provide a healthy environment for all clients. By completing this program, trainees will receive a certificate in infection prevention and control and acquire modern knowledge and skills in the field, which can be significantly applied in the workplace. This certificate will also enable trainees to advance in their careers.
