Twenty students (out of 38) have successfully completed the AI Academy programme at Bahrain Polytechnic, in which they received an international professional certification from Microsoft that qualify them to innovate and serve the community using the latest available tools and technologies, and to meet the needs of the labor market in line with the Kingdom of Bahrain Vision 2030.

The AI Academy is the first of its kind in the region and the Middle East, through which the educational platform is used as a service to provide an integrated specialized program based on enhancing innovation and creativity capabilities in the field of AI. Students were able to select two tracks when enrolling to the program: the artificial intelligence track, and the data science track.

On this occasion, Sh. Ali bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Bahrain Polytechnic’s Deputy CEO of Resources and Quality, stated: “I would like to congratulate the first 20 students who have completed the AI Academy programme. We are very eager to support initiatives related to artificial intelligence, and establishing this academy was one of the most important steps we have taken to ensure we support the Kingdom’s initiatives related to AI, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which called to strengthen Bahrain’s role as a country that supports the implementation of sustainable development goals in the scientific field.”

“With the support and direction of His Highness Sh. Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, this academy will build a solid base of students who are qualified to improving our digital economy and artificial intelligence capabilities. The skills they possess will help them get opportunities to work in international companies, and open new horizons for companies or startups.”

He concluded: “By September 2021, our first batch of 38 students will have completed the AI Academy programme. Throughout this time, we are constantly updating our course material to ensure that the latest technologies are implemented in the progamme. We look forward to welcoming new students into the academy, as we look to meet our goal of producing a work-ready labor force which fit the needs of local, regional, and international companies.”

It is worth noting that the Artificial Intelligence Academy was inaugurated in 2018, under the direction of His Highness Sh. Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, to include artificial intelligence specializations in the educational system in the Kingdom, especially with the excellent projects that were developed by youth in the annual “Khalid bin Hamad Competition for Innovation in Artificial Intelligence“, which indicates the desire and willingness of young people to enter this field. It began with its first batch of 38 participants (out of 126 who applied) ranging from school and university students to job-seekers and professionals. The remaining 18 students are set to complete the AI Academy programme by September 2021.
