Final year students can now perform industry projects with KPMG Fakhro after Bahrain Polytechnic signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Audit, Tax and Advisory firm at the Capital Club on 14th June 2015.
The Polytechnic students will also be given opportunities for full or part time jobs, giving them the necessary skills and experience required for working in an actual company.
Dr. Mohamed Al Aseeri, Acting CEO, believes gaining these practical experiences will help students become work-ready.
“With our problem-based learning approach, we aim for our students to be work-ready before they graduate from the Polytechnic by placing them in a corporate environment.
“We want to keep working with renowned companies, especially with reputed firms such as KPMG, so that our students can get such opportunities. This ideally fits into Bahrain’s 2030 Vision and the government action plan 2015-2018.” said Dr. Al Aseeri.
Naël Nasr, Head of Management Consulting for KPMG in Bahrain said: “Being part of the communities in which we operate is at the core of KPMG’s values. By working closely with Bahrain Polytechnic through the industry projects, we have been able to contribute towards developing the next generation of Bahrain’s business leaders.
“Internships are not only beneficial to students but also to the businesses they are working in. Young, fresh minds bring new ideas, and challenge the more experienced employees to think creatively”
The students will be interacting with various departments within the firm, and the students’ industry projects will be evaluated by both the Polytechnic tutors and a supervisor from KPMG.
During the ceremony, final year business students, who already completed their industry projects with KPMG, had the opportunity to present them to representatives from KPMG and Bahrain Polytechnic.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Dr. Mohamed Al Aseeri on behalf of Bahrain Polytechnic, and Naël Nasr on behalf of KPMG
