A tough yet exciting encounter at the Bahrain International Karting Circuit resulted in Bahrain Polytechnic finishing first place in the “Bahrain Karting Endurance Championship 2014”; a day long karting race which brought together 17 teams from across the globe.

Initiated on Friday 14th March and ended the following day, the winner is determined by the most amounts of laps completed until Saturday afternoon.

Concentration and skill were the key ingredients needed to endure the twenty-four hour race, as a combination of both students and staff which took part in the race ensured the completion of the 1000 lap race in an average time of one minute and fourteen seconds.

Mohamed Rashdan, the captain which led the team, expressed his delight on the win: “Overall [the race] was a great experience. We had 3 weeks of practice and tryouts before the race in order to be prepared to enter the competition for the first time.”

“We needed to cooperate to get a good result. We planned our timings on who would drive the kart, while some us had to communicate with the racer.” said the captain.

Watching among the crowd, Acting CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic Dr. Mohamed Al Aseeri summed up the performance as brilliant, while noting that teamwork was the necessary attribute to reap the first place reward at the end.

He said: “The race was tough, and the team was outstanding. They [students and staff] were enthusiastic days before the race even started and they got what they deserved at the end.

“Their endurance was certainly tested. I was also delighted to see how everyone was communicating with each other, as winning in sports depends on teamwork sometimes.

“Credit goes to the other teams as well. Some of them have come all the way to Bahrain to participate in the race and they gave it their all.” he added.

Dr. Al Aseeri also praised the work of the Bahrain International Circuit since its establishment in 2004 by His Highness Crown Prince Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, bringing in international media attention to the Kingdom to live to its name as “The Home Of Motorsport” in the Middle East.

“They have done a brilliant job over the years. They bring thousands of fans to Bahrain for their exciting events, particularly for the annual Bahrain Grand Prix.” concluded the Acting CEO.
