Bahrain Polytechnic’s School of Business invited the General Manager of Servcorp for Middle East and Turkey, Ms. Laudy Lahdo, to deliver a presentation on “Women working in Business in the Arab World” to third and final year students at the campus.

Ms. Lahdo began the presentation by providing a little background to her early life in Australia, where she studied Economics & Business at the prestigious Business School at the University of Melbourne. She made it clear to the students that her traditional Arabic upbringing was an advantage in that she studied much harder and very early in life she thought and dreamed big.

She attributed her success to “work hard and play hard” philosophy, that she strongly believes in. She stated that for women to succeed in the corporate world they needed support from their loved ones, especially family members. But she also stressed the importance of support from other women. Clearly, she demonstrated to our students the importance of hard work, reading, and life balance.

It was an informative and interactive session where students participated well and asked many questions. The students were able to relate to many concepts that they study in classrooms such as gender bias, glass ceiling, work life balance, and women leaders in the Arab World.

Dr. Mohamed Al Aseeri, Acting CEO, gave his sincere appreciation to Ms. Lahdo for her interesting lecture which attracted a large group of students and faculty members. He also added that her input regarding her experience in the financial and business sector will certainly have a significant impact on the participants which want to draw out their career paths.
