The Polytechnic has launched its Top-Up programme that will qualify diploma holders and its equivalent to obtain a bachelor’s degree in their required disciplines. This programme comes in line with the Polytechnic’s commitment to promote a culture of lifelong learning, along with positively impact the society by providing education, upskilling and reskilling opportunities to everyone.

On this occasion, the CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, said: “Bahrain Polytechnic believes that the future of the Kingdom’s social and economic well-being will depend on real investment in human capital and empowering the labor market with a skilled and qualified workforce. The Polytechnic is proud of its highly qualified academic staff who are established and experienced in their field. Moreover, the Polytechnic’s partnerships with international educational and professional institutions will give students a cutting-edge advantage to meet the requirements of the industrial sector.”

He added: “The Polytechnic continues to offer various courses and programmes, including short courses, accredited courses and customized training programs, that meet the aspirations of companies looking to improve the skills of their employees, or individual learners looking to advance and develop themselves.”

In turn, the Chief of Industry Liaison & Continuing Education at the Polytechnic, Mr. Abdulridha Dismal, explained that the programme is suitable for those who wished to obtain their bachelor’s degree but were not able to recognize their previous years of study or the diploma they obtained, resulting in them studying again to obtain a degree. The Top-Up Programme will allow students to receive a certificate in two years only at an affordable cost, as compared to the cost of four years of studying. In addition, the programme will be delivered in the evening to ensure it does not affect the student’s working hours.

He added: “The Polytechnic has studied the opinions of employees who hold a diploma and consulted industry partners who wish to raise the skill level of their employees by qualifying them to obtain a specialized degree in their field, especially those who excel at their jobs. However, due to their diploma, this prevents them from earning a higher position. Therefore, after an extensive study with the concerned authorities, we launched this programme in an aim to satisfy the needs of individuals looking to upgrade their qualification, empower the labor market with a skilled workforce, and meet the goals of Bahrain’s 2030 Vision.

Mr. Dismal invited holders of a diploma or its equivalent who wish to apply for admission to the study to fill out the required form on the following website: learn.polytechnic.bh
