Business students from Bahrain Polytechnic organized the “Entrepreneurship” conference, which was attended by a number of university students and academics. The conference aimed to bring together accelerators and startups to gather insights on the roles and services provided in the startup ecosystem in Bahrain, and witness startups’ pitches about their business plans and how they fill a gap in the market.

A number of speakers from various companies participated in the conference, including: Ahmed Janahi from Tamkeen; Mohammed Ali AlSubaiee from Startup Bahrain; Ali Ahmed from Brinc; Zainab Khamis from Spring Studios; and Latifa Sowaileh from Hope Ventures.

As for the speakers from the startups, they are: Shaikha Showaiter (Thrift It), Yara Ali and Mahmood Sharif (Academity), Maram Murad (Dar MaDaar), Nawraa Ahmed and Maryam Taraif (SpendIt), Sarah AlBanna (Upcycled), and Ali Nabil (Bashs). The startups were mostly student and alumni businesses, and one Mashroo3i 2.0 finalist.

The speakers presented a variety of topics that must be applied when establishing a startup company in order to contribute to its success, and to avoid obstacles that entrepreneurs face at the beginning of their entrepreneurial journey. They also discussed the key principles that must be applied to accelerate the growth and expansion of startups in various fields such as marketing, sales, customer service, and others. The conference also included two workshops, the first which was under the title: “Do’s and Don’ts of Pitching to an American Tech Investor”, and the second under the title: “How to work with a Development House as a Startup?”

On this occasion, Dr. Philippe Pringuet, Dean of Applied Research and Innovation at Bahrain Polytechnic, said: “We’re delighted to have so many of our partners here today to tell our students more about the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Bahrain, and provide the market with more entrepreneurs. This falls under the Polytechnic’s strategic plan 2023-2026 that seeks to create a generation of entrepreneurs and innovators that contribute to supporting the national economy, and achieving Bahrain’s 2030 Vision.”

The event was organized by Bahrain Polytechnic students: Reema Khaled, Sara Ali, and Hasan Mohamed.
