Satisfying the needs of Bahrain’s labour market and further enhancing students’ and graduates’ technical skills and knowledge base, Bahrain Polytechnic students can now enroll in internships, receive on-the-job training and conduct industrial visits related to their field of study – integrating academic education with practical application.

Speaking at the signing ceremony on the Bahrain Polytechnic campus, Dr. Jassim Haji, Gulf Air Director Information Technology said: “The field of Information Technology is fast paced and ever-changing, resulting frequently in critical gaps between the academic studies of this field and what is actually being practiced in the workplace. With this training program, Polytechnic students will gain real-life experience at Gulf Air in a broad range of ICT projects.”

Dr. Mohamed Al Aseeri, Acting CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic said: “The problem-based learning approach the Polytechnic practices focuses on practical learning, resulting in students being ready to work in a corporate environment upon graduation.”

“Producing work-ready graduates has always been our aim, and the main ingredient here is practical experience. We want to keep working with renowned companies such as Gulf Air, so that our students can benefit by gaining practical experience in a well-established and prestigious organization that operates internationally. We are certain this collaboration will be a win-win for both our students and the organization. This shall have a positive impact on our students’ careers and the aviation industry in the Kingdom. This ideally fits into Bahrain’s 2030 Vision and the government action plan for 2015-2018.” concluded Dr. Al Aseeri.

Gulf Air Senior Manager People Development, Human Resources Ms. Sohair Faisal Khalfan said: “Such people development programs are vital for facilitating new graduates’ entry into the workforce. We are delighted to support the strengthening of the Kingdom’s people development and to do our part in improving the readiness of young Bahraini graduates as they embark on their professional lives. These programs provide benefits and experience that can’t be obtained through the various ICT training courses or workshops.”
